"...Award-winning young vibraphonist guests with our superb House Trio."

Vibraphonist Jim Hart has been making quite an impression as one of the most creative and energetic young players to have emerged on the UK Jazz circuit in recent years.

Since moving to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music Jim has become one of the most in demand multi-instrumentalists. On leaving the Guildhall, Jim became the drummer for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and stayed with them for three years.

It was during this time Jim also developed as a vibraphone player forming his own group Gemini with Saxophonist Ivo Neame and co-founding London’s innovative LOOP Collective. Gemini’s first album 'Emergence' was received to critical acclaim and their second album ‘Narrada’ has just been released to rave reviews.

As well as leading his own groups Gemini and the Jim Hart Quartet, he is currently the regular drummer with John Dankworth and Cleo Laine and plays Vibraphone in a wide variety of settings including Neon with Stan Sulzmann and Gwilym Simcock, The Liquorice Stick Allsorts with Alan Barnes and Paul Clarvis and Martin Drew's New Jazz Couriers.

In 2007 Jim was the winner of a British Jazz Award, and also won the 2006 British Jazz Award for 'Rising Star'. Tonight Jim is backed by our excellent house trio led by Peter Shepherd. Expect an evening of very high quality, hard swinging modern Jazz.
